How to choose a shackle
Start with the working load limit the assembly has to carry. The shackle must not be the weakest part of the chain, so its rating has to match or exceed what it connects.
Bow and straight
Bow shackles have a rounded body that takes a load from more than one direction. Straight shackles with a screw pin are used where the pull is in line. Both are covered here in the same range of ratings.
