Shackles in a securing assembly
A shackle joins a chain, rope or strap to a fixed eye and opens by taking the pin out, so a load can be connected and released without cutting anything. Keep the pull in line with the body instead of loading it sideways, and stay inside the stated maximum load. Check that the pin is fully home before every trip, and replace a shackle that shows a bent body or a damaged thread rather than straightening it.
