Using wire rope grips
A wire rope grip clamps the loose end of a wire rope back against the standing part, so a loop or an eye can be held without splicing. Tighten it evenly rather than pulling one side down first, and go back over the joint after the rope has taken load for the first time, because wire settles under its first pull. A galvanized finish is there to slow corrosion on a part that lives outdoors, so replace any grip that has started to pit.
