Finding the right spare parts for your trailer’s wheel brakes is straightforward once you know which method to use. There are three main ways to identify the correct parts: by Brake-ID, by reference number, or by brake dimensions. Search via brake-ID

Your Brake-ID or Type number can be found on the coupling, draw members, brake anchor plate, or the axle. On more recent trailers there may be two different signs — one for the coupling details and another for the brake and axle details.

What is a Brake-ID / Type number?
It is used to identify an axle and/or a coupling. A Brake-ID can be a type number from the manufacturer, or an approval number issued by an authority — typically as an EC-number or ETI-number.

Brake drums
When identifying brake drums, in addition to the Brake-ID, we also need to know the axle’s maximum weight, as several brake drums can share the same Brake-ID. The weight is usually stated on the axle.

Find the reference number

The reference number is the manufacturer’s part number, printed or stamped directly on the part. You can usually find these numbers on the coupling damper or on the brake drums. Using the reference number is one of the most reliable ways to ensure you order the exact right replacement part.

Find parts via the brake dimension

Each wheel brake has a specific brake dimension. First, measure the inner diameter of the brake drum (where the brake shoe contact surface meets the drum), then measure the width of the brake shoe.

For example: 200×50 means the brake drum’s inner diameter is 200 mm and the brake shoe is 50 mm wide. You can then filter by “Brake dimension” in the product category to find the right parts.
