What do I need to know?
You only need to know the following before you work through our guide:
1. TOTAL LENGTH
Length of the compete gas spring. CC-measurement (From the centre of one end piece to the other) or the length up to the thread if you do not need an end piece.
2. NEWTON (pressure)
3. END PIECE
Which fastening should your end piece be equipped with? You do not need to know that fastening to the gas spring as our guide only shows end pieces that fit your selected gas spring.
If you already have end pieces and you would like to find a suitable gas spring then you will also need to know the dimensions of the thread on the gas spring. You need to measure the diameter of the piston rod to find the thread measurement:
Piston rod diameter Thread measurement
6 mm M5
8 mm M6
10 mm M8
14 mm M10
Do as follows:
All gas springs are shown in the list and you can filter the list by changing the selection. Adjust the control to specify a min. value and a max. value. The list updates automatically when you change the filter.
Length: Select an interval that is slightly shorter than the required CC-measurement. The larger the interval the greater the chance of finding the right gas spring. As we have many different lengths of end piece you can usually find the right CC-measurement even if the gas spring does not have exactly the right length from the beginning.
Newton: The gas spring’s pressure. Look to see whether this is specified on your old gas spring. It may say e.g. “0500 N”.
If you need help to work out the Newton value click here
Thread measurement: See the table above.
Click on the gas spring you would like.
Here you can choose whether you want end pieces and if so which. All end pieces that appear will fit your gas spring. We have many different variants that provide virtually endless possibilities.
First choose the type of end piece and then the variant of end piece.
The whole time you will see the length (CC-measurement) including the selected end pieces of the gas spring in the figure. Change the end pieces/gas spring by clicking on the buttons until you are satisfied with the total length
