The brake drum is a central part of the wheel brake and works together with the brake shoes to brake the trailer. A worn, damaged or faulty brake drum can affect braking performance and should be checked during servicing. How to choose the right brake drum

Choosing the right brake drum is determined by the wheel brake's model, the brake drum's dimensions, the hub, wheel bearings, stud circle and the axle's design. Always check the existing brake drum, the braking system's make, total weight and any part numbers before ordering. Caravans run the same wheel brakes, so these brake drums fit them too — the drum is chosen by its dimensions and the brake model, not by the type of trailer.

How do I know the right size of brake drum?

Check the brake drum's inner diameter, brake width, stud circle, hub dimensions, bearing dimensions and any markings. Compare with the existing brake drum or the trailer's documentation. It is also important that the brake drum fits together with the correct brake shoes, wheel bearings and axle.

The makes here are AL-KO, BPW, Knott, Peitz, Nieper and Hahn. Drum sizes run from 160x35 to 250x40, and the two largest groups are 200x50 with 25 parts and 160x35 with 9.
