Electrical plugs

The plug is the connection between the towing vehicle and the trailer, and it is one of the parts most trailer owners end up replacing. Water, road salt and repeated coupling wear the pins and the housing. The whole range here is VALERYD, with fast delivery from our own warehouse in Sweden.
How to choose the right plug
Start with the pin count. A 7 pin connection covers the basic lighting functions. A 13 pin connection adds the extra circuits used by caravans and by trailers with interior lighting or a fridge. The plug on the trailer has to match the socket on the tow bar.
When the counts do not match
An adapter lets a 7 pin trailer run from a 13 pin tow bar or the other way round. Eight of the products here are adapters. Note that an adapter cannot add functions that the socket does not supply, so a 7 pin supply stays a 7 pin supply.
Seals and holders
The seal behind the plug keeps water out of the pins. It is a small part that is easy to overlook and it is the usual reason a connection starts failing intermittently rather than all at once.
Trailer plugs
The plug is one end of the connection. Check trailer sockets, coiled cables and bayonet connectors as well. A light tester will tell you whether the fault is in the plug or further along the trailer.
