A braked axle carries the wheel brakes and takes the load of the trailer. It is replaced when the beam is damaged or badly corroded. Fast delivery from our own warehouse in Sweden.
How to choose a braked trailer axle
Three measurements decide the fit. The weight rating, the track width and overall width, and the wheel bolt pattern. The axle names give all three, for example 1050 kg with 1000 mm track and 1450 mm overall on a 4x100 bolt pattern.
Bolt pattern
51 of the axles here are 5x112 and 20 are 4x100. The bolt pattern has to match the wheels you are keeping, so check it before anything else if the wheels are staying with the trailer.
Weight rating
The axle rating has to cover the gross weight of the trailer, not the load alone. Fitting an axle rated below the trailer plate is not something that can be compensated for elsewhere.
Braked trailer axles
An axle change is a natural point to replace the wear parts around it. Look at brake shoes, brake cables and wheel bearings. If the overrun brake is worn as well, an axle kit with the overrun brake included covers both in one part.
