How to choose a lighting kit
Start with the plug on the towing vehicle, 7 or 13 pin. Then check the width of the trailer, since the main harness has to reach both lamps, and whether the towing vehicle needs a CANBUS version to avoid bulb failure warnings.
What a kit contains
A kit is built around a main cable, two rear lamps and the connectors between them. Lamp sets cover the lamps alone, for a trailer where the wiring is sound and only the lamps need replacing.
Lighting kits
If only part of the lighting is failing it is often cheaper to replace that part. Look at rear lights, cables and connectors and light testers before replacing the whole kit.
