The axle carries the load, the wheels and, on a braked trailer, the wheel brakes. It is replaced when the beam is bent or corroded through. Most of the range is Knott. Fast delivery from our own warehouse in Sweden.
Braked or unbraked
A braked axle carries wheel brakes and is required above the weight limit that applies in your country. An unbraked axle has no brakes and is simpler and cheaper. The two are not interchangeable, since a braked axle needs an overrun brake and linkage to work with.
How to choose an axle
Three measurements decide the fit. The weight rating, the track width and overall width, and the wheel bolt pattern. All three are given in the axle name. The rating has to cover the gross weight on the trailer plate, not just the load you plan to carry.
Axle parts
Not every axle problem needs a new axle. Axle shock absorbers and stub axles can be replaced separately. If the overrun brake is worn as well, an axle kit with the brake already fitted covers both in one part.
