Brake cables
Brake cables for trailer wheel brakes, with the accessories needed to fit them. Match the total length and the sheath length to the brake make.

The brake cable carries the movement from the overrun brake out to the wheel brake. It is a wear part. Cables stretch with use and corrode from the inside, and both show up as longer stopping distances or uneven braking. Most of the range is AL-KO and Knott, with BPW, Hahn, WAP and GSM alongside. How to choose the right brake cable
Four things decide which cable fits. The total length, the end fitting at each end, the diameter of the outer sleeve, and the make of the brake. Compare against the cable being replaced rather than against the trailer model.
Measuring the length
Brake cable lengths are given as two figures, for example 530/740 mm. The first is the inner wire and the second is the outer sleeve. Measure both on the old cable. If no cable matches exactly, a slightly longer one can usually be used.
End fittings
The end fitting has to match the brake and the linkage. The range covers nipple ends, square eye ends and mushroom ends. Nipple ends are the most common, on 65 of the cables here. Check both ends of the old cable, since they are often different from each other.
Sleeve diameter
The sleeve diameter is measured on the inside. 23 mm and 18 mm are the two common sizes in this range. A sleeve that does not seat correctly will not hold the cable in position under braking.
Brake cables
A brake cable rarely fails on its own. When one is replaced it is worth looking at brake shoes, brake adjusters and cable half shells. The brake linkage between the overrun device and the cables is worth checking at the same time.
