Gas springs
Gas springs with end fittings and mounting hardware for tailgates, hatches and covers. Select by extended length, force in newtons and thread size.
Find your gas spring
Match the spring you have: the number printed on it, or its length, force and thread.
Use the filters below to narrow the gas springs by thread, length and force.

How to measure
Pull the spring out fully and measure from the end of the tube to the end of the rod. Leave out the threaded studs and any end fittings.
Fit the new spring with the rod pointing down where you can.
Which thread?
If the thread is not marked on the spring, measure the rod (the thin, shiny part) or the tube:
| Thread | Rod Ø (mm) | Tube Ø (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| M5 | 6 | 15 |
| M6 | 8 | 18 |
| M8 | 10 | 22 |
| M10 | 14 | 27 |
How strong should it be?
The force is printed on the spring, e.g. 0500N means 500 N.
To weigh the lid, take the springs off, put a scale under the edge opposite the hinge, close the lid onto it, and double the reading.
Force per spring ≈ lid weight (kg) × L1 × 6 ÷ (number of springs × L2). L1 is the distance from the hinge to the far edge of the lid, and L2 from the hinge to the spring's nearest fixing point with the lid open, both in mm.
Fitting types
