Ball nuts on trailer brake linkage
A long ball nut is wound onto a threaded rod or wire end and forms the rounded head that the next part of the linkage seats against, so the pull is passed on without the joint binding as it pivots. How far the nut is wound on also sets the working length of the linkage, which is why it is set after the wheel brakes are adjusted and then locked. Inspect the thread for damage whenever the linkage is dismantled.
