Weld-on hook in G80 with a working load limit of 10000 kg, supplied as a spare part. It is the largest of six sizes: 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000, 8000 and 10000 kg. The figure applies to the hook itself — the weld and the structure it is welded to have to carry the same load.

Weld-on hooks and their load limit

A weld-on hook becomes part of the structure it is fixed to, so the joint matters as much as the hook: it should be welded by someone competent to make load-bearing welds and inspected once it has cooled. Before use, look the hook over for cracks, for wear in the seat and for any sign that the throat has opened or the tip has bent. The lowest rated part of the assembly sets the limit for the whole lift.
