Connecting links on a chain
A connecting link is the joining component between two lengths of chain, or between a chain and a fitting, on an arrangement that is not welded together. Because it sits in the load path, it has to suit what it joins, so compare the size designation and the maximum load with the rest of the assembly before use. Inspect the link where it bears: one that is deformed, notched, cracked or worn is replaced rather than reused, and the stated maximum load is a limit, not a target.
