Stainless fittings on a trailer

Stainless steel lasts better than plain steel where a fitting is permanently out in the wet and the road salt, which is why it is used for small hardware mounted on the outside of a body. Brackets of the same nominal size still differ in how they mount, so order by the reference number where you have it and hold the new bracket against the old one before you drill anything.
