On a braked trailer the coupling head does more than hold the trailer to the ball. It takes the push of the trailer when the car brakes and passes it into the overrun device, which is what applies the wheel brakes. Fast delivery from our own warehouse in Sweden.
How to choose
Three things have to match. The weight rating, which must cover the gross weight on the trailer plate. The drawbar tube diameter, where 35 mm, 50 mm and 60 mm are the common sizes. And the bolt pattern in the drawbar, since hole spacing differs between makes even at the same tube size.
Signs of wear
A coupling head that has worn shows as play on the ball, a rattling sound at low speed, or a locking mechanism that no longer closes firmly. Since it is a safety part, a worn coupling is replaced rather than adjusted.
